As human beings, we see a lot of x’s in our lives, from counting the x’s on the tags on our clothing to the number of x’s representing the loves of our past. There are x’s to measure how bad a movie might be, x’s in our sports teams, x’s in our algebra, and x’s to represent the hugs we give to friends and family. 

X is also a representation of Christ. In Greek, the word Christos, or Christ actually begins with the letter X
(Χριστός), and in fact the Greek word for fish, ΙΧΘΥΣ, is called Ich-thus where we get the Jesus fish symbol. Early Christians used it to abbreviate the meaningful phrase, “Jesus Christ, Son of God, Savior.” The X is a cross road, which gives us the ability to choose direction. The X if leaned just right, is a cross like what our Lord and Savior was crucified on. 

It seems as though X’s are everywhere in our lives, good and bad. Why are we so caught up by the people or our past, the size of our clothes, or how many times our sports teams haven’t gone to a championship. If we keep focus on that one X, and all the meanings of why that X is so important, we can use it to keep “Jesus Christ, Son of God, Savior” in our lives, apply Him to our lives every day. He applied you to His before His life was lost, only for Him to rebreathe that breath of life three days later. Find that x today. You don’t need Algebra to do it, just an open, loving heart, and the repentance and child-like faith He wants to see within you.
